Kirsten Marshall, Chair
Kirsten joined the SWDF in 2010, joining the Executive Committee shortly thereafter. Kirsten was previously Chair of the Personal & Professional Development Sub Committee and was elected to one of the Deputy Chair positions in 2024. In November 2025 Kirsten took up the position of Chair.
Kirsten is passionate about ensuring our P&PD continuous professional development (CPD) events are accessible to all members, and that they #DareTo motivate, challenge and inspire others.

Vicki Morton, Deputy Chair
Vicki has spent her career in Forensic Science and has juggled work (at operational and senior level) and family life for many years. As Chief Operating Officer, SPA Forensic Services, she is passionate about the SWDF, the inclusive ethos of the association and the amazing opportunities to educate, enable and empower everyone.

Lynn Hamilton, Deputy Chair
Lynn joined Strathclyde Police in 2005 and has worked in various roles within the West Command. She joined SWDF in 2019 and wanting to be more involved, joined the Health and Wellbeing Sub Committee in 2024.
Lynn was elected as Deputy Chair in 2026.
Lynn balances work and family life and is passionate about wellbeing and driving forward change to empower members to feel valued and supported to reach their potential.

Helen Finch, Chair of Personal & Professional Development
Helen joined Lothian & Borders Police in 2010 and has spent most of her career working in C3 Division. In 2017 she discovered a passion for teaching and training development, leading her to pursue a dedicated path in Learning & Development. She thrives as a Learning & Development Professional, driven by a genuine commitment to supporting and empowering people to grow in their careers and beyond.
Helen became part of the SWDF in 2021 after meeting chair Kirsten Marshall, whose energy and commitment to the SWDF deeply resonated with her. Their shared passion for continuous professional development inspired Helen to join the Personal & Professional Development sub-committee, a team she has proudly chaired since 2024.

Michelle Bodle, Treasurer
Michelle is the Business Support Co-ordinator for Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway Divisions and has over 28 years’ experience working for the police.
Michelle has been actively involved in the SWDF for over 15 years, most recently as the Treasurer for the association and also as a Springboard trainer.

Rebecca Tweedie, WoCiP
As former Chair of the Scottish Women’s Development Forum, Rebecca is passionate about equality, diversity, and inclusion. Following the launch of the Women of Colour in Policing subcommittee, Rebecca found a true sense of belonging and value. Her passion lies in enhancing the career experiences and wellbeing for Police Scotland and SPA employees.

Amanda Irvine, Ambassador Lead, Executive Committee
Amanda joined Lothian & Borders Police in 1996 and has worked in a range of different administrative roles and supported a number of large-scale projects. Amanda joined the SWDF in 2005 and with a passion to support colleague well-being became a member of the Health & Wellness Sub-Committee. In 2021 Amanda was appointed Ambassador Lead to help support and promote the amazing work of the SWDF.

Sophie Marshall, Executive Committee
Formerly the Deputy Chair of the association, Sophie established the SWDF Ambassadors network across Scotland in 2020. Sophie boasts a diverse career spanning both front-line and strategic roles within the operational and corporate spheres of policing. While her previous experience primarily revolved around urban environments, she is currently based on the Isle of Bute, where she is gaining valuable insights into the distinctive challenges of rural policing.

Darren Tattersall, Executive Committee
Darren has been passionate about the development of people and organisations for nearly 30 years, 15 of those in the outdoors with a broad range of clients, from young offenders to directors, and the last 15 years in organisations, commercial and public. He is honoured to support and contribute to the valuable work of the SWDF.

Hazel Irving, Executive Committee
Hazel is the Head of Service Delivery in Digital Division and become an Executive Member of the SWDF in March 2026 supporting activity across the team.
Hazel is naturally empathetic and understanding in her approach, and is proactive and driven to make things happen in a meaningful way. Hazel is keen to support work that genuinely improves experience, opportunity and outcomes for women across the organisation.

Katie Carr
Katie was a police officer in the Metropolitan Police for 10 years before moving to Scotland. She is now a member of police staff in Police Scotland and has recently joined the SWDF.
She is passionate about improving culture to enhance the experiences of those within policing.
Katie comes with a wealth of knowledge and is keen to be actively involved in the SWDF both to assist our work, an area that she is passionate about, and to be part of a strong network.
